
Roy has over 25 years experience as a Tuba player and several Brass Bands, Orchestras, many TV appearances and a film appearance to his credit.
From a young age Roy performed with many Yorkshire Schools Brass Bands but more notable he was the Principal B flat Tuba for the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain.
During his musical career he has performed with several top flight Brass Bands including Yorkshire IMPs, Black Dyke, Yorkshire Building Society and Dodworth Colliery Band and performed as a soloist and at many competitions.
From 1992 to 2002 he was a member of the Grimethorpe Colliery Brass Band where he performed at almost every major music venue throughout England including the Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall and the Royal Festival Hall. He also has several CDs to his credit.
During his time at “Grimey” he appeared and performed in the film “brassed off” (including the stage play version), performed on the Eurovision Song Contest to over 50 million viewers and toured around Britain with “The Beautiful South”. He has performed in and won several major Brass Banding completions including the National Championships and the British Open and toured several countries including Switzerland, Japan, Germany and Norway.
