David was a founder of the James Shepherd Versatile Brass with whom he toured extensively across the world in the ten years he was a member.
A true virtuoso of his craft, David was Champion Soloist of Great
Britain on two consecutive occasions, and was runner up the third year
just failing the hat trick. David has played professionally with a
number of Top London Session Orchestras and notably with the Philip
Jones Brass Ensemble recording Elgar Howarth’s arrangement of Modeste
Mussorgskys Pictures at an Exhibition.
A veteran of many sessions for T.V., (both on and off camera) Radio and with a huge back catalogue of recordings to his credit, he worked on a number of Peter Skellern tracks successfully bringing brass music to the attention of the wider populous.
David has toured throughout Britain, Germany, Holland, Norway and Switzerland on many occasions, playing at some of the world’s top venues. A soloist at the Sydney Opera House and a regular at the Royal Festival Hall and the Royal Albert Hall, David was a member of the first exclusively brass ensemble ever, to play at the London Proms.
